Hello readers, In this blog I will share my experience of placement as a software engineer. I belong to a tier-3 college and I am placed in 7 companies. So, In which company I am going to work for will be the content for my next blog😂. But in this blog, I will explain the procedure of companies to hire students or fresher.
1. Written Round
All the companies whether it is a service-based company or a product-based will ask questions on Aptitude, reasoning & English. This is common for all. But there are some exceptions like some startups only ask coding questions. Coming to coding, the coding round totally depends upon what package are you applying for and which company is it, whether it is product-based or service-based. So, If the coding round you are giving is for the company whose package is less than 4.5lpa then they will ask easy questions like reverse a string or check if palindrome. And if the package is above 4.5 the questions will be difficult depending upon the package and also what the company is looking for. For Example, I was giving a coding round for a startup(5.15lpa) they asked a question on the graph but on the other hand, one company that was giving 6lpa has asked less difficult questions. So, It depends on the company. So, If your target is to crack a placement of above 5lpa then DSA is a must.
2. GD
Nowadays company is conducting virtual placement drives. So, most companies skip GD but some companies still have this round. Like I have cracked almost 6-7 companies but out of those only one company had the GD round. It is basically to check the presence of mind, confidence & English(in India).
3. Technical Interview
So, this round is to check your technical skills. The same goes here like coding round, the difficulty of this round depends upon the package you are applying for. So, As per my experience if the package is less than 4lpa they will only check your communication skill and sometimes they ask some basic tech questions, very easy to crack. If you are giving an interview for 4lpa to 5lpa then the difficulty level will be medium mostly they will ask some easy coding questions and computer science subjects like oops, operating system. But if the package is above 5lpa then be ready for some DSA questions. If you want to crack a company which is giving above 5lpa you should be good at coding as well as computer science subjects. The difficulty of coding questions is directly proportional to the package they are offering in most cases. And most companies giving 6lpa or above have 2 or more technical rounds.
4. HR
This round is not an elimination round for most cases. But some companies do eliminate students in the HR round. For clearing this round you have to show you are confident. Prepare your hobbies, interests, and things you have written in your resume other than your technical skills.
All the best!!
